This collection contains materials concerning the Mountain Meadows Massacre of 1857, including printed speeches, pamphlets, reports, government documents, and a typed manuscript.

This collection was originally numbered H-19 and is part of the J. N. Heiskell Historical Collections, courtesy of the Arkansas Gazette Foundation.


Historical Note

In September 1857, more than a hundred emigrants, including individuals from Crawford County, Arkansas, were killed in the Utah Territory on their way to California by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. There were only 17 survivors, all of whom were children.
