Historical Note
The United Commercial Travelers of America first met in 1888 in Columbus, Ohio. The group was founded to further the interests of traveling salesmen and provide accidental death and disability insurance to men engaged in that profession. Over time the function of the organization expanded to include the provision of a Widow and Orphans' Fund and the promotion of community service activities. The Little Rock Council was organized in 1900. The Arkansas Grand Council was formed in 1910 and in 1964 had approximately 4,200 members.
