This collection consists of two letters written by John B. Cumer while he was stationed in Arkansas with the 46th Indiana Infantry.


Biographical Note

John B. Cumer was born ca. 1840, in Pennsylvania. He and his brother Charles were working on a farm in White County, Indiana, at the outbreak of the war. He enlisted November 5, 1861, at Logansport, Indiana, and was mustered into the 46th Indiana Infantry on December 11, 1861. He died May 28, 1863, at Grand Gulf, Mississippi.
