This collection consists of a letter written by Lemuel Ratcliff while serving with the 24th Iowa Infantry.
Biographical Note
Lemuel Ratcliff was born in 1836, in Morgan County, Ohio, the son of Benjamin and Martha Ratcliff. He was married to Rebecca Stubbs and living in Springville, Iowa, when he enlisted in the army. He mustered in to Company H of the 24th Iowa Infantry on September 3, 1862. He died of disease at Malta, Ohio, on January 15, 1864.
