This collection contains photographs and narrative concerning Thornburg, Perry County, Arkansas. The scrapbook has a short written history of the town along with a few dozen photographs. Much of the information revolves around the Thornburg Rural Community Improvement Program.
The Thornburg community in Perry County, Arkansas, was established about 1914, when the Fourche River Lumber Company extended its tram railroad westward from the community of Wye. Ben Thornburg was one of the early settlers in the area and a small town soon sprang up around his home. The little community boasted a school, depot, sawmill, and blacksmith shop among other enterprises.
