Biographical Information

The Central Arkansas Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, originally founded as simply the Arkansas Chapter, was established in April 1929. Thirteen individuals from Texarkana, Pine Bluff, Hot Springs, and El Dorado were brought together for this new American Guild of Organists chapter by Sheldon Foote from the University of Wisconsin. Foote was serving as organist of the Methodist Church in El Dorado at the time. Less than a year later, in February 1930, a group from Little Rock was structured and added to the Arkansas Chapter. On November 18, 1957, the chapter was re-chartered with the present name. Throughout its history, the Central Arkansas Chapter has worked not only to encourage education and performance of the organ, but also to serve as a network for organists in the state.
