Biographical Information

This collection deals principally with the family of Solomon Thalheimer Sr., and his wife Bernice. Solomon was the son of Ben S. and Fannie Thalheimer, German immigrants who settled in Arkansas in the 1870s. Bernice was the daughter of Israel and Sallie Oppenheimer of Fort Smith. Solomon and Bernice had two children, Bobette and Solomon Jr. This collection contains images from five generations of the Thalheimer and Oppenheimer families.

Solomon Sr., and later Solomon Jr., operated Thalheimer's Billiard Parlor in downtown Little Rock, which remained in business until 1979. Solomon Jr., was also an attorney and served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He also served in Korea and Viet Nam, retiring from the service as a lieutenant colonel.
