This collection contains articles (1980-1984), speech transcripts (ca. 1967), and photographs (1974) of Leland DuVall, an editorial columnist for the
Arkansas Gazette from 1955 to 1990. Also included is an application for registration from the First Arkansas Bankstock Corporation.
Leland DuVall was born in Moreland, Arkansas, in 1911. His early years were spent as a farmer, sawmiller, cotton ginner, and salesman. DuVall served in the army during World War II and attended Arkansas Tech University after returning from the war.
He became editor of the
Russellville Courier-Democrat in 1946 and joined the
Arkansas Gazette as a farm columnist in 1955 and occasionally wrote editorials. By the 1980s, he had a regular column in the editorial section. He retired from the newspaper in 1990. Duvall died on 2006 February 18 and is buried at Bowden Cemetery in Russellville, Arkansas.
