This collection contains two letters and diary written by Allen A. Cameron while he served with the 18th Texas Infantry.


Biographical Information

Allen A. Cameron was born in North Carolina, in 1818. In 1850, he was a merchant in Rusk, Cherokee County, Texas; he later had a farm in the same county. He enlisted on April 7, 1862, in Company C of the 18th Texas Infantry, and was chosen a first lieutenant. He resigned October 3, 1863, due to ill health.
