Scope and Contents

This collection contains photocopies and transcripts of letters written by Howard Cochran to his family in Iowa while he was stationed at Camp Pike, Arkansas.

Transcripts are attached to each letter. These transcripts may not accurately reflect the spelling and information in the original letters.


Biographical Information

Howard Glenn Cochran was born on January 29, 1889, in Washington County, Iowa, to William S. Cochran and Lucy Marie Brown Cochran. He entered the service on July 22, 1918, and went to Camp Pike, Arkansas, where he was placed in the infantry. Cochran served in the Machine Gun Company of the 364th Infantry Regiment, 91st Division. Cochran went overseas in September 1918 and saw service on the Ypres-Lys Front. He was discharged on April 19, 1919.
