Biographical Information

Ralph E. Balch was born on July 27, 1934, in Nashville, Arkansas, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in March 1953 at the age of eighteen. He served as a Navy hospital corpsman stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps in Mount Fuji, Japan. His duties included providing basic medical care and participating in field drills. Balch served for four years and later became active in the reserves in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
