Biographical Information

Richard V. Urquhart was born on October 1, 1946, in Rochester, New York. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968 at the age of twenty-one. He served in the Vietnam War for five months beginning in August 1969, as a first lieutenant with the 4th Battalion, 12th Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Urquhart served as an artillery forward observer and fire direction officer. He participated in action at Dong Ha, Phu Bai, and Fire Base C-1 located approximately four miles south of the DMZ.
