This small collection contains personal and business papers of Little Rock attorney Walter H. Pemberton.


Biographical Information

Walter Henry Pemberton was born in Lonoke County in 1857. After receiving his law degree in North Carolina and marrying Virginia Carroll in 1878, he returned to Arkansas, living on his Lonoke County plantation. In 1884, the Pembertons moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where Pemberton became a member of the law firm of Dodge, Johnson, Carroll, and Pemberton. He also served as a member of the Little Rock School Board and as a prosecuting attorney in Little Rock. Walter H. Pemberton died June 8, 1928, and is buried in Mount Holly Cemetery in Little Rock.
