Scope and Contents

This collection is a part of an ongoing Butler Center for Arkansas Studies project titled FORGOTTEN: The Arkansas Korean War Project. This initiative seeks to record the experiences of Arkansas's Korean War veterans through collection of documents, photographs, and oral history interviews.

This collection contains an oral history interview with Jerry L. Killingsworth from October 2015, as well as photographs and documents related to his military service.


Biographical Information

Jerry Lacony Killingsworth was born on October 19, 1932, in Bonnerdale, Arkansas, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in October 1950 at the age of eighteen. He served in the Korean War for thirteen months beginning in the spring of 1951 with an 81mm mortar platoon. His duties included serving as a forward observer to call in fire support. He participated in many actions, including Hill 673 during the Battle of the Punchbowl in the fall of 1951.
