The collection consists of seven letters written by members of the Brummett family of Jefferson and Bradley Counties, Arkansas.


Biographical Information

These letters are from the families of George W. Brummett Sr., of Jefferson County, Arkansas, and his brother Pleasant Brummett, of Bradley County, Arkansas. The correspondents include George W. Jr., Mary, William H. , and Pleasant, all the children of George W. Brummett Sr. Both George W. Jr. and William H. Brummett served with the 9th Arkansas. Other correspondents include T. J. Brummett, who served with Company D of the 18th Arkansas, known as the Pine Bluff Rebels, and his sisters Irany [Irena?] and Harriet, all the children of Pleasant Brummett.
