Scope and Contents

The collection is a part of an ongoing Butler Center for Arkansas Studies project titled FORGOTTEN: The Arkansas Korean War Project. This initiative seeks to record the experiences of Arkansas's Korean War veterans through collection of documents, photographs, and oral history interviews.

This collection contains an oral history interview with Clyde H. Cossey from July 16, 2010, as well as documents and photographs relating to his military service.


Biographical Information

Clyde H. Cossey was born in Charlotte, Arkansas, in 1932, and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1950, at the age of seventeen. Cossey served in the Korean War for approximately eleven months as a sergeant in A Company, 31st Regimental Combat Team. His duties during the war included that of ammunition bearer, light machine gunner, and squad leader. Cossey was wounded in action during the Chosin Reservoir Campaign and spent approximately four months in the Army hospital at Fort Bliss, Texas. Cossey currently lives in Cave City, Arkansas.
