Scope and Contents

The collection is a part of an ongoing Butler Center for Arkansas Studies project titled FORGOTTEN: The Arkansas Korean War Project. This initiative seeks to record the experiences of Arkansas's Korean War veterans through collection of documents, photographs, and oral history interviews.

This collection contains an oral history interview with William D. Rambo from October 14, 2010, as well as photographs and documents related to his military service.


Biographical Information

William Rambo was born in Cabot, Arkansas, in 1931. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951, at the age of nineteen. He served in the Korean War for approximately eighteen months, six in Korea and twelve in Japan. While in the 5th Cavalry Regiment Rambo served variously as an infantryman and mortarman. During his time in the 77th Field Artillery Rambo served as a chief of section on a 105mm Howitzer crew. Following his discharge from the service, Rambo returned to Arkansas. He currently lives in Scott, Arkansas.
