Scope and Contents

The collection is a part of an ongoing Butler Center for Arkansas Studies project titled FORGOTTEN: The Arkansas Korean War Project. This initiative seeks to record the experiences of Arkansas's Korean War veterans through collection of documents, photographs, and oral history interviews.

This collection contains an oral history interview with Curtis E. Watson from November 9, 2010, as well as photographs and documents related to his military service.


Biographical Information

Curtis E. Watson was born in Benton, Arkansas, in 1929. He enlisted in the Arkansas Air National Guard in 1947 at the age of eighteen. He was called to active duty in October 1950 and sent to Korea in 1951 as a staff sergeant with the 154th Fighter Bomber Squadron. Watson served as a crew chief and performed maintenance on the unit's F-84E jet aircraft. He remained in the Air National Guard after the war and eventually retired after forty-one years of service. He currently lives in Bryant, Arkansas.
